The SNP constantly shout bawl and greet about privatisation of the NHS south of the border. But all the time, they have been privatising health right here in Scotland. The article below shows them privatising a hospital here in Scotland.
Serco has been confirmed as the facilities management partner for NHS Dumfries and Galloway’s new district general hospital.
Serco is part of High Wood Health, a consortium led by Laing O’Rourke that has been chosen to design, build, finance and operate the £200 million hospital.
Under a contract valued at more than £40 million, Serco will provide estate management services for the 25-year operational term.
The project builds on Serco’s health FM portfolio in Scotland. It follows on from a proven track record with Laing O’Rourke to deliver flagship healthcare facilities and the operational and technical excellence demonstrated by the Serco teams at Forth Valley Royal Hospital and Wishaw General Hospital.
Construction of the new hospital begins in spring 2015, ready for patients to arrive in spring 2018. The new 340-bed, 60,000 square metre facility will transform the way care is delivered for the people of Dumfries and Galloway.
Marlene Boyd, Serco’s contract director at Wishaw and Forth Valley Hospitals, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have been chosen to provide the estate management for this prestigious new hospital and to be part of Highwood Health. I’m really proud of the teams that deliver award-winning FM services at Forth Valley Royal Hospital and Wishaw General Hospital and everyone is looking forward to this exciting new project.”
So the SNP are against privatisation of Scottish hospitals?
Yet more SNP lies exposed.
